The January Makeup SwitchUp

New Year new makeup look, right? Maybe...

I've been on holiday for the past few weeks and in amongst sitting out in the sun and studying at my desk, I haven't worn much makeup and if I did, it was very much bronzed and summery which unfortunately does not work well with the current windy, wet and cold weather outside my window.

For my base, I rarely wear full makeup, but tend to just use some Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer under my eyes if necessary. But if I do wear foundation, I adore the YSL La Teint Touche  Eclat which gives a lovely natural glow, however, it does contain SPF so be wary if you use flash alot! Then to finish off the base, I dab some Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Flushed which looks ridiculously bright in the packaging but gives a lovely flushed look to the cheeks.

Now that I have a fringe, I've been trying to embody my inner Suki Waterhouse-come-Alexa Chung which means that I permanently wear winged eyeliner and I'm pleased to say that I've mastered it (I realised this when I was stood in an airplane bathroom applying it in the midst of turbulence). And I've also found my favourite liner! I've tried them all, from Dior to Maybelline, the Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner is definitely one of the best, especially as it only cost £2.99! It does last all day but if I'm going out for the night, I use the Collection Waterproof Fast Stroke Liner which is also around £3 but does have a greater staying power and a bolder black (not in photo). Mascara is a standard favourite amongst beauty bloggers, Maybelline The Falsies which gives lovely bold lashes which don't look too clumpy. Plus it's waterproof!

And on my lips, which I tend to only do if I'm doing things more exciting than just university is the Rimmel Exaggerate LipLiner in Eastend Snob which is very much a your lips but better colour and as I unfortunately have no top lip, is very necessary. This is also a drugstore dupe for Charlotte Tillbury's Pillow Talk which is a bit of a blogger favourite.

And of course, my everyday standard nail polish favourite is Essie Ballet Slipper which is a baby pink colour that makes me feel like I belong in Gossip Girl. A lovely understated pink for every day and it's pale enough that you can't see any chips!

Have you switched up any of your makeup for January or are you sticking to your old favourites?
