The festive season is once again almost here, and so many of us are looking forward to sharing some time with the ones we love and forgetting about the trainwreck that has been 2020.

One fun way to celebrate the festive season for those of us who love beauty is to glam up our makeup for Christmas. Whether it be a new manicure, a gold shimmer or a bright lip; we have some ideas for you to get the most of your Christmas makeup this year.

DIY Glitter Ombre manicure

One fun way to bring some Christmas spirit to your makeup look this winter is to make your own DIY nail art. Whether you paint directly onto your own nails or us Nailene short nails - these will look incredible and bring a bit of festive cheer to you. Start off with a base coat of any colour you like: a festive red or green will look great. Now choose your glitter and apply it heavily to the base of your nail closest to the cuticle. Wipe your brush, and then lightly brush this glitter across the nail. This should create an ombré effect. Layer up a few times and you’re good to go!

Use natural bronzing

When getting ready for a Christmas party, you don’t want to look like a ghost which is why Colorscience tanning or other natural tanning creams are a great idea. Instead of piling on the bronzer when getting ready - give yourself a more natural tanned glow with tanning products. At Christmas the focus should be more on glitz and glam than that sun kissed look so keep it simple.

Go golden

What’s the best way to make anything look Christmassy? Make it gold. There are many amazing gold glitters and pigments out there that will bring a touch of magic to your makeup look. To apply - be sure to apply some concealer to your eyelid first and then apply the gold on top to catch as much pigment as possible and make it look bold. You can use Smokey brown or black tones to shadow your crease and this is the perfect festive look for any party.

Add a red lip

Christmas is a time where red really shines through. Red is the brightest of all colours and it is one which we often avoid in makeup unless we are enjoying special occasions. At Christmas - because the eye looks you do will be light and shimmery, a bold red lip is the perfect compliment for it.

Create sparkly liner

If you want to stick to matte hues on your eyes but still are looking for a touch of sparkle - sparkly eyeliner is ideal for you. Start off by carving out a THIN wing with your regular black liner and allow to set. Then take a shimmery eyeliner such as gold or silver or green and apply this in a thin line directly above the wing. To really make this magical you can finish off the look with a few small gems.

Enjoy your festive makeup this year and have fun with it!!
