How To Be Way More Stylish Without Even Trying

Many women put a lot of effort into looking stylish. But do you always have to spend so much time on the job?

Arguably not. In this post, we take a look at some of the ways that you can be effortlessly stylish and look your best all the time.

While it might be tempting to buy a brand new outfit and wear it for just one occasion, it’s not a good idea. Yes, it feels exciting, but the number of opportunities for actually wearing it a second time are vanishingly small.

Instead of making purchases for specific events, choose clothing and accessories that you can wear as a standard part of your wardrobe. You might try square St Christopher pendants, black blouses, pearl earrings, and classic workwear that you can don time and time again.

Don’t Buy Anything That Doesn’t Fit

While it might be tempting, never buy anything that doesn’t fit in the hope that you’ll grow or shrink into it. As an incentive, it rarely works.

Instead, just buy items that you can wear right now. In the future, if it doesn’t fit you, you can swap it out for something else.

Avoid Anything That Doesn’t Suit You

Most people know almost instinctively which items in their wardrobes suit them, and which don’t. If you know that there’s something lurking in your closet that doesn’t really fit you or go with your style, get rid of it and find something else.

Where possible, invest in designer pieces that will stand the test of time. Work with a stylist who can offer frank advice about what suits you, and what doesn’t. Concentrate on adding staples to your wardrobe instead of one-offs.

Avoid Extravagant Shopping Trips

While going on extravagant shopping trips might be a fun part of the culture we live in, they rarely work out how you hope. Instead of buying a wardrobe that lasts, you inevitably wind up getting a bunch of on-trend stuff that will be out of fashion by next year and impossible to sell.

The trick here is to drip-feed new items into your wardrobe throughout the year. As you shop, make a note of the things you like and then return when the sale arrives to buy them. Look for classical items that will complement your overall look instead of show pieces that are only suitable as one-offs.

Do A Clothes Swap

To avoid shopping completely, you might want to do a full-scale clothes shop with one of your friends. For instance, if you get bored by an item in your collection, offer to swap it with a friend who is bored with an item in their collection too. Trading clothes allows you to build an exciting wardrobe without spending any of your hard-earned cash.

Get Rid Of Something Every Time You Buy Something New

Lastly, part of looking more stylish is keeping your wardrobe to a sensible size. Therefore, whenever you buy something new, get rid of something old. This makes it easier for you to develop a theme and mix-and-match different items.
