Lighter Coverage Summer Bases
If you've read my blog longer than one year, it should be no surprise that I don't find myself gravitating towards heavy coverage bases. I literally only own one high coverage foundation and almost always prefer a lighter, glowy base. And with Summer finally breaking through, lighter bases are almost preferable, because who wouldn't want glowy skin?
I find that the ultimate recipe for glowy skin is the moisturiser or primer - which is why I love the Erborian Bamboo Glow Dewy Effect Cream*. This is honestly fantastic and something I find myself reaching for even if I'm not wearing a pigmented base. The cream has a texture not indifferent to a serum so it's very light and sits really nicely on the skin. It does honestly make your skin look plumper and gives it a gorgeous glow. You can 100% get away without wearing anything on top of it as it really makes your skin look healthy and glowy.
If I'm going for a seriously glowy skin look, I love the combination of the Bamboo Glow and the Erborian CC Creme High Definition Radiance Cream*. This is fairly new to my rota but it's no surprise that it has reached cult status - it's actually incredible. It comes out white and develops into a pigmented colour upon application but it really helps enhance your skin and give you a flawless finish. It's a perfect choice if you want a little bit of coverage to even out your skin and reduce any discolouration. I'm a huge fan. By itself, it has a nice natural glow but combined with the Bamboo Glow, it gives a really gorgeous dewy look without making you look sweaty. The only downside is that the shade range isn't huge, so at the moment, Eborian is definitely focused on the lighter skin tones - but hopefully this is something that they're working on. There is the idea with most CC creams that the shade adapts to your skin tone, so it'd be interesting to see how this works with darker skin tones!
If I really want a quick get up and go coverage look, the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint has been a favourite for a good while now. I love the really light but buildable coverage and it instantly gives a healthy glow. This is a favourite if I'm not planning on wearing any bronzer or powder products as it is natural enough that it doesn't inhibit any freckles! It's not my favourite for wearing with heavier makeup as it is fairly minimal, but it's a summer staple.
And finally, for those days where my skin is slightly hormonal or freaking out, I love the tinted version of the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Unifant. This is essentially a tinted version of my beloved Effaclar Duo which is my number one skincare staple. Again, the shade range isn't too great, but it's a perfect tinted moisturiser if you have sensitive or inflamed skin.
So there you have it! My breakdown of my favourite summer bases - perfect for a glowy and fresh look! Have I missed anything? What are some of your favourites?
