Current Minimalist Makeup Collection

I've been a beauty blogger for about four years now and with blogging about beauty comes the inevitable pressure to have a #goals makeup collection. And until about six months ago, I was totally swept up in that. But it's not true, and quite frankly I wish someone would have given me a good shake so I didn't start the hoard... (I don't think I've ever shown my full initial makeup collection but the current drawer is one third of the size of the initial drawer - just for a bit of perspective).

But about a week ago, I had a serious declutter and cut my stash down to what you see in the photos.

The declutter itself wasn't too bad as fortunately, quite a lot of my makeup was the wrong shade or out of date or just something I would never use (hello eight pots of glitter). So I sifted through it. Because I'd been building up to this point for quite a while, it wasn't as painful as I thought and it's so nice knowing that I only have things that I actively use. Here's what I have left.

The Bases

Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser, bareMinerals Complexion Rescue, Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done, Clinque BIY Pigment Drops, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, Estee Lauder Double Wear Cushion Stick & Estee Lauder Youth Serum Radiant Concealer.

The Primers/Extras

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiant, MAC Strobe Cream, Laura Mercier Transluscent Powder, LIT Glitter Glue, MAC Silver Glitter & Bourjois UK Healthy Balance Powder.

Cheeks

Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit, Laura Mercier Highlight in Indiscretion, Hourglass Brilliant Strobe, Illamasqua Heroine, MAC Soft&Gentle, Milani Baked Blush in Coral & The Body Shop Bronzer in 02.

Eyes

NYX Liquid Liner in Vinyl & Matte finish, Maybelline Great Lash Mascara, La Roche Posay Mascara, NYX Tinted Brow Gel, Soap&Glory Brow Archery, Benefit Brow Primer, Charlotte Tilbury La Dolce Vita Eye Palette, Colourpop Eyeshadow. (Palettes not pictured - Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics, Z-Palette with Makeup Geek Shadows & Blank Canvas Master Palette.)

Lips

Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Lovebug and More Better, Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin, Anna Nicole, Unicorn Blood and Redrum, Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Scarlet, Mac Diva, Estee Edit Killin' It, Estee Lauder Pure Colour Love in Raw Sugar and Juiced Up, and finally NYX Liquid Lingerie in Bedroom Flirt and Embellishment.

And there you have it. You may have spotted that I also keep my contact lenses, cotton buds, hair bobbles and tiger balm in there. Wild. I know. The storage is pretty simple - they're empty boxes from beauty subscription services and I created the divider by cutting up another beauty box. They fit so well in this drawer which is the top drawer in the chest that I use to do my makeup at! On top I have a little tray with my day-to-day options which I've listed but you might not spot in the picture. I also keep my eyeshadows & nail polish on a bookshelf - these have always lived there but have been significantly reduced.

I feel like I need a disclaimer about the title of this blog post - Minimalism for me is only having things in your life that bring you joy, it's not about having nothing, it's just get ridding of the excess which I feel I have done.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I would genuinely recommend spending a bit of time going through your own makeup - even if it's just to get rid of everything that's out of date. It's incredibly therapeutic and has made me feel a bit lighter overall.
