River Island Spring/Summer Wishlist

It may be a shock to hear this, but Spring is supposedly on its way (even though I'm writing this in the midst of a snow storm...) So even though I'm still in three layers of thermals, that doesn't stop me from thinking about what type of pieces I'm keeping an eye out for when it's not 1 degrees... River Island is a great place to start as they're an affordable high street option that are sure to cover all the trends!

Because I wear jeans most of Autumn/Winter, Spring/Summer is my favourite time is my favourite time to wear dresses and I love anything with an a-line or skaterskirt as when there's a rare heat spell, it's an easy way to keep cool. Last S/S we saw loads of tea and wrap dresses so this green and white striped wrap dress is a cute way to stick to classic patterns and add a modern twist to an otherwise girly style.

I also love the frill on the tweed skirt. I picked up a skirt with a similar style but I really like the tweed effect the skirt has. Neutrals are an amazing way to make an otherwise 'trendy' style last - and it means that you can also wear them as it gets cooler.

Wrap styles are a huge trend and if you're a jeans 'n' a tee, a wrap style top can really add a summery and on-trend look to your outfit. I'm going to be starting work in September and I think tops like these would be a great option for a smart/casual work outfit.

And finally, colour. I'm really moving away from my traditional no colour rule and really embracing brights! These cobalt blue loafers are a great way to add a pop of colour to a neutral outfit.

What trends are you looking for this Spring/Summer?
