Snapshots of Annapolis, Chesapeake Bay
About 30 miles from where we were staying in Greenbelt is a little harbour town called Annapolis. Located on the Chesapeake bay, it gives off gorgeous beauty vibes which also serving Gilmore Girls' Stars Hollow realness.
As our stop in Annapolis was very much on route back to Penn, we only spent about half a day there which unless you decided to do a boat cruise, was sufficient!
We started the day with Brunch at Sofi's Crepes which was heaving with people! Located by the main harbour and just a stone's throw from the centre and right near the Naval Academy. Once again, we were really lucky with the weather so we didn't have to queue for a table but grabbed our crepes (I had the BATS - bacon, avocado, tomato &sour cream which was so yum), and we went for an explore! I would totally recommend Sofi's whether it be for a snack or actual meal as they do yummy crepes (from sweet to savoury) and have something for everyone!
It's incredibly reminiscent of areas such as Georgetown and Notting Hill - all the houses are so photogenic and it's surprisingly easy to have a mini photoshoot as most of them are holiday lets... The town definitely gets busy towards midday so if you're looking for photos minus bouts of tourists, I'd suggest heading out early!
To be honest, due to a limited amount of time, we didn't really do much more than shop (have a wander through Lou Lou Boutique on Main Street) but we did stop for incredible ice-cream at the Annapolis Ice Cream Company which doesn't look like much inside (spot the penguins), but the ice cream is wonderful. I went for the Peanut Butter Oreo and it was everything I could have hoped for! There are loads of little eateries for lunch so it's ideal for a lazy morning meander.
If you want a bit more action, there are plenty of boating companies on the harbour that offer boat trips for around $16 per adult (40 minutes), but you don't need to worry about booking in advance!
Have you been to anywhere on the Chesapeake Bay? Have you visited Annapolis?
